Most real estate agents do not leave in the middle of a successful career. I may be the only one I know who has made that leap. It has been the right decision, I want to pursue my true passions of writing and speaking. Real estate was good to me these past twenty five years, but it is time to move on. I am cleaning up the last of my open escrows and I have turned over my clients to an agent I trust. I will work as a referring agent, I have a great network across the US and Canada, but I am ready to concentrate on other things.
My last deal is a short sale, probably among the last short sales of the recent economic downturn. Short sale is such a misnomer. Yes, the bank is taking “short” funds on what they are owned but the timing is anything but short. I have had some short sales that get approved in a few weeks but it is usually a few months, sometimes as long as six months. This one has taken well over a year and we are now in the home stretch. It makes me happy to put this one behind me, it also makes me a bit sad because it is truly the end of the old career.
I am excited about moving forward. I know that good things are going to come my way. I have been editing my book and will go back to polishing it up within a few days. I am networking and doors are opening. It is time now to look forward to an exciting and prosperous future.
