It has been several years since I have given a speech at an event. I have done five minute promotional speeches but those don’t count. An hour long speech takes more preparation to write, and it takes practice. A current topic that engages people is necessary, too. I was looking though my old material to see what I may be able to expand upon. There is some good stuff, it will take updating, but most of it has a solid base. My favorite is a 45 minute talk I did on goal writing. There is another one I liked about creating a team environment. Coming up with the right topic for the audience is the hardest part. The topics are endless, anyone who has scanned TED Talks knows that, but I am not an expert at all topics and I need to concentrate on what I know best.
So far my ideas include: Old Fashioned Business in a Modern World, Setting and Keeping Short and Long Term Goals, Building Business Relationships for the Long Run, Truth or Fiction in the Information Age, Creating a Team Environment, Organizing Everything, Letting Go of Junk in Your House and Your Head, Selling is a Listening Game.
