My daughter called me on Friday with the all-important question: “Where can I get pie?” I gave her a few suggestions, along with my question, “why?” Friday was pie day, or technically pi day – 3.14 (without all the other numbers). Next year will be an even better pi day, 3.1415 and the celebrations are already being planned.
Saturday was also a math day. I headed to Davis to see my friend, her daughter was competing in a robotics tournament. There were over 50 teams, all vying for a spot on the leader board. Every robot was built by kids, usually high school teams, under specific guidelines. Our team was an all-girls team, with Girl Scouts as their connection. It was very ESPN but with a geek flair. At the risk of not explaining it all as well as it was explained to me, I will not lay out the rules or requirements. Suffice it to say, I was very impressed at what these kids can accomplish.
Today, math played a minor role, except that I increased the mileage of my walk. It’s easy to do when you walk with someone. The talking takes my mind of the fact that I might get tired and because of that I actually don’t get tired, I get renewed.
