The first book I wrote was The Everything Homeselling Book, From the Open House to Closing the Deal, All You Need to Get the Most Money for Your Home! I wrote the majority of it in February of 2005 right here at this café in Luxembourg. Getting away from the day to day world and working in a different time zone, a different country, made writing easier. I learned some of the ropes of the publishing business on that first book, including the fact that it is important for an author to read the galleys. I did not know what the galleys were, sometimes called a galley proof, so I did not ask to see them. This is the typeset manuscript, looking the way it will look when it is published. It helps to see just before it goes to press or it is too late to correct any mistakes. There were a few biggies! My signature, on the “Dear Reader” page, was the hardest one to take, they spelled both my first name and my last name incorrectly. They also changed the name of the Hotel Francais, where I stayed, to the Hotel Francis. I asked for galleys on my second book. If there are any errors in that one, they are my fault, because I had a chance to double check one last time.
