Class of 2014

My daughter graduates from high school this week. There have been a series of events leading up to graduation including the Senior prom, a Senior trip, a Senior sunrise, a Senior sunset, a Senior hike, a Senior bar-b-que, a Senior camp out, and several other Senior adventures that I can’t remember the names of.

Why all these activities? With about 75 kids, who are more like siblings than classmates, the class of 2014 is not ready to let go. They want to hold on to each other as long as they can because they know this is the end of their childhood. Most of them have been together since pre-school. They love and tease each other like the sisters and brothers that they are. It’s comfortable and easy. They have grown up together, sharing troubles and triumphs along the way. Soon they will hug and cry and head out into the world. Different colleges, different towns, and different people.

It will be an adventure, both scary and exciting. They will text and post pictures and visit over the holidays. Each will chart their own path, they know it will not be the same as it was in high school. Yet, as life changes, the love they have for each other will follow them into the future.
