Spring Activities

Spring is early this year at Lake Tahoe. People are paddle boarding, hiking, and spending lots of time outside. It is common to have plenty of snow on the ground in March and even April so we are all getting a head start on the summer activities.

I began my day with a two hour hike up Tunnel Creek. I have been promising one of my friends I would join her, she has wanted to do this trek since she first moved here last fall. The views of Lake Tahoe are stunning, and the terrain can be challenging as the trail switches back and forth up the mountain. I love the way the curves in the road look like fiords from above, at lake level it is not as dramatic. It was fun to encounter people I know on the trail, too. Living in a small town has its advantages.

After my hike I had lunch with another friend. She has been most helpful as I move to a new career, she knows everyone and has been connecting me with people who can assist me along the way. We also laugh a lot. What can be better?

I ended my day on the beach with another friend who brought along a dog that was sweet and friendly. Dogs are not allowed on the beach later in the season so there were plenty of them today, chasing balls and swimming. We enjoyed their antics and soaked up the afternoon sun.

This was a quiet celebration of Noruz – unlike the celebrations of my childhood, but it was joyful in a different way.

Incline Living – at its finest.
